As a longtime iPhone user, I have very little experience using Android based phones. So I figured I would give one a shot for a week to see how it compared to my iPhone.
The Android phone I’m giving a test drive is the Samsung Captivate. I’m testing it on the AT&T network, but I believe this phone is available on Verizon and most other major carriers as well.
My first thoughts:
Light and thin, and a bit taller than the iPhone. Despite its size, it fits nicely in my pocket.
The screen is incredibly sharp and brilliant clear. Colors pop.
The phone slightly vibrates when you type, which is a nice feature. It provides some tactile feedback that as far as I know, the iPhone doesn’t provide.
The Twitter app kicks the iPhone Twitter app’s ass. The UI is so much more impressive.
Seems like the Android platform, by nature of not being so strict about UI rules like the iPhone, allows developers to be more creative, and the applications reflect this.
I’ll have more to share about the phone as I use it throughout the week, but so far I am really impressed.

Have you figured out screen shots on your android yet?  I still havent figured out how to do screen shots on my Nexus One, which leads me to take photos of my screen with my Blackberry….so lame! Please help! email me: clskees@gmail.com
